"There's something special about this place..."

Hope Church has a love for God, a love for the community, and a love for people.  From the moment the guitar begins to play til the last drop of tea and final biscuit crumbs are consumed, our family and guests all agree, there is a special feeling in this house!  You are welcome in our family, regardless of where you've been spiritually, physically, or emotionally.  Hope Church is a place for you to BELONG, where you will find help to BELIEVE, and where you can grow to BECOME something more than you've ever imagined.

Belong

"I don't believe the way you do, so I can't come to Hope Church, right?"  Having perfect doctrine is not a prerequisite for being a part of the community of Jesus.  If you've ever read the stories of the first disciples you would see a ragamuffin crew of misfits and flawed people.  Yet they were given grace to grow and develop.  In many ways, the church is still a gathering of misfits and ragamuffins, stumbling in God's grace toward life as a disciple.  We believe that you belong here, in a community of forgiveness and grace, making the journey with able friends and spiritual family.

Believe

"What's your overall message at Hope Church?"  Hope Church (formerly Bedwas Pentecostal Church) was founded upon and continues to function for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The word "gospel" means "good news."  In the Bible, a leader named Paul described the good news this way:  Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour.  But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation

if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven... The Gospel message changes hearts, minds, destinies. It is our desire that every person have the opportunity to hear this message and choose to believe.

Become

"What will be expected of me at Hope Church?"  It used to be that churches expected people to conform to a certain behaviour before they would be allowed to attend church.  As stated before, Hope Church doesn't require you to believe a certain way before you come, nor do we expect perfection from all those who attend.  We all want to be something better, and through Christ we have a way...but it is often messy.  We make progress in one area of spiritual life, but stumble in others.  We trust that God, through His Holy Spirit, is doing a great work in us.  Behaviour is the fruit of belief in God, fellowship with other believers, and continued prayer.  We are on a journey to become what God wants us to be.
